Experience as a general concept comprises knowledge of or skill in or observation of some thing or some event gained through involvement in or exposure to that thing or event. The history of the word experience aligns it closely with the concept of experiment.

The concept of experience generally refers to know-how or procedural knowledge, rather than propositional knowledge: on-the-job training rather than book-learning. Philosophers dub knowledge based on experience "empirical knowledge" or "a posteriori knowledge".

The interrogation of experience has a long tradition in continental philosophy. Experience plays an important role in the philosophy of Søren Kierkegaard. The German term Erfahrung, often translated into English as "experience", has a slightly different implication, connoting the coherency of life's experiences.

A person with considerable experience in a certain field can gain a reputation as an expert.

Certain religious traditions (such as types of Buddhism, Surat Shabd Yoga, mysticism and Pentecostalism) and educational paradigms with, for example, the conditioning of military recruit-training (also known as "boot camps"), stress the experiential nature of human epistemology. This stands in contrast to alternatives: traditions of dogma, logic or reasoning. Participants in activities such as tourism, extreme sports and recreational drug-use also tend to stress the importance of experience.

A. Here at Arizona Lipo I have many questions that come up about the recovery. With lipo being my specialty and the only procedure I dedicated my practice to. You will want to rest for the first12 hours after your surgery. Dizziness after the procedure can persist as long as 5 days. Move slowly and be careful. You may shower 6 hours after the procedure. We highly recommend placing a chair or a stool in the shower so you can sit comfortably. It is very important to have an adult with you during the first 24 hours to assist you if you experience dizziness and to help you change your dressings. The day after your procedure we recommend you take a walk for up to a mile with someone accompanying you. Progress your exercise as you tolerate it. If… [cont.]

What has been your personal experience with universal health care?
Q. It seems that we hear the extremes of experience from people who are subject to government medical programs. Some write of never having to worry, never waiting, never paying. Then, we hear other extremes. A recent answer related the experience of a relative dying in a hallway at a hospital that had put him on a waiting list for treating an infection in his foot. Granted, it is impossible to prove these anecdotes, but I would like to at least hear from the personal experience of people writing here. If you like government health programs, have you had the need to put them to the test? Or has your health care been routine?

A. Overall my experience and of the people I know has been good. Belgium has a mixed system. It's not exactly government health care I've been lucky myself mostly as far as sickness goes but close friends and relatives had their lives saved more than once. Though obviously here it's also true all you have is my word and Lord knows the Internet is full of people who take the truth lightly when it's politically opportune. (which my speak to my honesty because this is not exactly the most pro socialism post I could have thought up) But for what it is worth I've been amazed at the quality of care several times. Here it's probably also important to note the doctors do not "work for the government". The part that's "government run" is the health… [cont.]

How to prove work experience for skilled migration to Australia?
Q. What exactly do the Case Officers need to get the prove of my work experience? A letter / certificate / report of my former employer ? Or a copy of a payslip? Or some thing from my local tax office? And how much hours per day and days per week? Or how much hours per week? E.g. is a 20 hours per week (part-time) job over 2 years enough to receive "2 Years work experience" ?

A. - Certified copies of work references on official company or department letterhead (specific conditions apply) - A payslip from your current employer - You may also include additional documents as supporting evidence including contracts, payslips tax returns, group certificates or retirement account information. You will have to demonstrate that you have been employed in your nominated occupation for at least 20 hours a week in a paid position for at least 12 of the 24 months immediately preceding your visa application lodgement date.
