How can I get my hair straightened without using a hair straightener?
Q. How can I get my hair straightened without using a hair straightener, an iron or any special straightening gel? I have normal gel and hairspray and I have mousse. I don't want the hair to be too straightened so it's obvious I just want it to it can take out some curls and my mullet looking hair.

What are some good ways to wear straightened hair?
Q. I straighten my hair usually, but now I'm looking for cute, fresh ways to wear it that aren't simply boring and plain. I usually don't get it all that pin straight, but I can. It's very thick with good volume as well, something to take into account, and looks good straightened to wavyness rather than all the way. Any suggestions?

A. i like using a headband to pull it back but then push it forward a little bit to get a poof haha. or i bobby pin a large portion of one of the sides back. i hope that makes sense.

How do you create waves with REALLY CURLY but STRAIGHTENED hair?
Q. My hair is really thick and coarse but once I straighten it you would never know it's really that way. Is it possible to create big, gorgeous waves with straightened hair?

A. Yes, what you have to do is finger curl it. Basically, get a lock of hair and wrap your finger around the bit at the bottom and work your way up and hold it and the roots for like a minute and let go.

How much stuff can you do to hair that has been chemically straightened?
Q. If you get your hair chemically straightened, can you do stuff to your straightened hair that people with naturally straight hair can do to theirs, like use a curling iron where you might want a curl? Or use a flat iron for extra shine? Or do you have to be so careful with your chemically straightened hair that you can't use hot tools on it?
Asked by earlybird - Sat Jul 24 05:26:23 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Chemically straightened hair is still able to achieve the same styles as natural hair, but as the same w natural hair and heat appliances too much can damage and cause crazy splits. You can flat iron, curl w a curling iron, roller sets for curls w/o heat and wavy styles. Hope this helps: )

A. actually - depending on YOUR hair type, you may not need to blow dry or flat iron after having your hair chemically straightened - Trust me - I know from personal experience that sometimes you still have to do it. The reason for that is - the chemical straightening process can only be done (as far as for black people) once every 6 weeks. Well since your hair is still growing - you have "new growth" that is not straight - so the blow dryer and flat iron comes in handy here! The good stuff though is that it makes your hair more manageable for a longer period of time. For example - if you have curly hair, and you flat iron it, its only "straight" until you wash it again. How do I style hair straightened with a flat iron?
Q. Hello, I've started straightening my hair with a flat iron and use the gels/serums to prevent damage beforehand, but after the hair is straightened using the straightener what would I use to style it? I couldn't wet it again and put gel in it could I? Thanks! I totally forgot to add i'm a guy with 1-2" hair that likes a messy or somewhat spiked look. I'm between relaxings and hair is growing out so I got a straightener.

Can I use a dandruff shampoo on chemically straightened hair?
Q. I just got my hair straightened chemically. I used to have to use a dandruff shampoo. I know that people who have their hair straightened need to be extra cautious. So can I still use a dandruff shampoo along with a good conditioner? If not what other options are there to treat dandruff for hair that has undergone chemical straightening?
Asked by riya31 - Wed Feb 27 08:23:52 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Yes. But why don't you work on the root causes of your dandruff? Drink more water. Use a mild shampoo with a couple of drops of tea tree oil mixed in and then a rinse of 50% water and 50% apple cider vinegar, then condition and add a drop or two of lemon-lavander oil. Or once a week mix a tablespoon of baking soda into your shampoo, lather well and rinse thoroughly. Follow with the apple cider vinegar and a conditioner.

A. Mazani is good for the chemical straightening. How soon are you putting the highlights in after the relaxer? If you place them in too soon it will cause damage. I like the Paul Mitchell color system.

A. When you straighten you're hair, you're advised not to wear scrunchies (if I remember correctly). And basically not to ruin the straightness of your hair. What about using curlers?

A. if your hair is forced into a form its not naturally then yes it will permanently damage your hair, but nowadays im pretty sure its not too tough. you should be able to get products that repair that in the long run. the age range changes from different states but if you just go into a salon or on a website its quite easy to find an answer. best wishes xxx

A. it wont be permanent, its grows and you get wavy roots. i think it would cost like the price of a perm, as that what it is permed straight. I have thick curly hair, but you wouldnt think it, with good hair products to keep the hair healthy and a layered cut, and my ghd straightners, which only takes seconds to run over my hair, as they very hot. also a heat protector spray, my hair is dead straight, and you dont need to do it every day, after you wash it, then maybe a quick straighten the next day too. if you perm it its just going to dry out. P.S you can get ghd products off internet (its stands for good hair day)

Q. I don't have curly hair, my hair hair has light waves and cowlicks and it's an awkward volume. I have trouble straightening my own hair and I am wondering if my hair is able to be permanently straightened or if it's too straight for the process. What about the Chi/Yuko/Japanese Straightening? Is that any different than normal?

A. DON'T permanently straighten your hair! It will ruin your hair! Just find some smoothing and straightening creams and serums at the drug store and straighten your hair. Or, just enhance your waves with a little mousse or gel! Some people would kill to have lightly wavy hair!
